LJOD Designer Face Masks. Safe~Breathable~Reusable
My husband is a First Responder. When we were right in the middle of the mask shortage crisis. I examined the masks that the staff was using while waiting to receive more N95 masks. This prompted me to do research for suitable substitute materials to serve as replacements. After much sweat and frustration, I was able to find proper supplies and help out. Thankfully, the hospital finally received all the proper PPE needed to work their shifts and stay protected.
Designing and sewing LJOD Designer™ Masks comes from my heart and my own personal experience wearing face masks –daily– at a time when wearing one wasn’t cool. Due to health issues, from 2002-2007, while needing to use a wheelchair due to limited mobility, I also wore face masks and became accustomed to stares and feeling ostracized; pretending like I was okay with all that. I wasn’t. I was too weak to sew at that time in my life. I finally decided that I could at least find a suitable filtered mask that looked nice, so that I could give those stares something good to look at. Unfortunately, there were almost zero choices in design or style, so I had to settle for ‘whatever’ and lived with that choice –daily– until my condition improved, thankfully. I just wanted to share this with you.
Conserving our health should ALWAYS COME FIRST. After all if we lose our health, we essentially lose: everything. A safer face mask should be practical and protective, So, I designed; then redesigned; then redesigned some more. Why? I wanted my masks to be breathable and comfortable enough to wear for prolonged periods of time. Those who know me well, are aware that I love to make clients feel great in my fashion designs. Therefore, I want you to look and feel good in my masks as you live with daily changes to your lifestyle.

¹Filter Description:
- Each mask contains multiple layers of non-woven inner lining for optimum filtration.
- Bonus filters included are composed of non-woven melt-blown filter and optional activated carbon fabric.
- ²Note: According to the CDC, No claims should be made regarding effectiveness against COVID-19. Because these are considered personal use items, they are not FDA approved. However, the filtration is made from the same materials used in many healthcare organizations.
The spun bond non-woven fabric is used as replacement filters, testing information is available below. The meltblown filter materials were tested by an independent lab to determine the BFE rating of the tested specimens. Test results for filtration levels from manufacturer tested to BFE >95%.

Disposable Replacement Filters
- Disposable Replacement Filters are available:

Mask Care:
- Gently wash mask by machine (preferably) in a lingerie-size mesh laundry bag; or by hand, soaking in sink and gently rinse. Use absorbent towel to remove excess water.
- Hang dry best or machine dry low heat.
- If using disposable filter: REMOVE before washing. They are NOT washable; replace every 7-10 days, depending on usage. Activated carbon filters last longer .
