I’m L.J. O’Neal (aka: Bernadine and Swanstyle). L.J. O’Neal is my nom de plume and my family name. You’ll usually find me South of the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. However, I’m also fond of New York City and Southern New Hampshire (born in Keene, NH).

I’m forever grateful to my parents, grandparents and my aunt for teaching and imbedding in me a love for nature, crafts and music. I learned to sew when I was 6 years old. Growing up, I worked as a professional tailor, seamstress, costumer and in the bridal and evening wear industries. Later, I taught arts and crafts, as well as sewing to children and adults; beginner to advanced -for many years.

Due to a disability, I had to put things on hold for a while recovering from a shock to my lungs called A.R.D.S. (acute respiratory distress syndrome – www.ardsglobal.org ). Without going into all the details -thankfully- I learned to listen to all the professionals that aided in my rehabilitation. (Meaning: I stopped being so hard-headed!) 

I’m grateful to have transformed myself  and know that my transformation is ongoing.  It’s an amazing journey to a healthier me. I’m getting there…
